Ms. Sharon McCain

Hi, Welcome to the First Grade

Lexington, SC is where I was born and raised, so I am not far from home.   After my graduation from Lexington High School, I began my college days at Columbia International University for two years and then transferred to THE University of South Carolina where I earned my BA in Early Childhood Education.  I married and promptly moved to Virginia where I became a teacher, on Walton's Mountain, teaching third and second.  My husband joined the Army and we began our military lives in California, where I taught school(2nd grade) on a military base.  We then moved to Louisiana for eight years while he served with 2nd ACR with one deployment and then as a US Army recruiter. I taught at the same school, Anacoco Elementary (K & 1st), for eight years.  We then moved to Missouri for a few years, where I taught in Kansas City, Missouri(K & 1st).  While in Kansas City, I was able to earn my MA in Education from Southwest Baptist University. In 2004, my father passed away and we made the decision to move home to give our two boys roots.  Gilbert Primary School became my teaching home for 13 years.  The door was opened for me to come to RSME and I am so excited to be here.

My two sons are now grown, although they will forever be my babies.  Trey, my oldest, lives in Columbia.  He is an avid runner, winning state two times, running for the NC/SC Team in Hawaii and the US Team in Australia, and going to Nationals three times. He is now coaching. My youngest, Michael-Chase, an avid marching band member and rugby player, married and brought to me my first daughter, Bri.  They met while being members of their college marching band at Liberty University in Virginia.  They still love marching bands so much, they still work with bands in their free time!

I have grown in love with this community.  I have an open-door policy and love making friends with parents so we can work together. I look forward to meeting you and becoming friends soon!
